Tandoori Idli Recipe

India is truly a melting pot of flavours. People of countless cultures coexist in our communities, learning from and sharing food with each other. Keeping this in mind, we developed an Idli recipe that brings together North Indian and South Indian cuisine. Smoky Tandoori flavors are very different from tangy, spicy South Indian ones, but a certain magic takes place when you fuse them together. Tasty food knows no boundaries and this healthy recipe is sure to tickle your tastebuds!

Ingredients to make Tandoori idli:

Steps to make Tandoori idlis:

1.
Grease the idli mould and pour batter into it. Steam the idlis in a steamer or pressure cooker till they are fluffy (about 10 minutes). If you are using a pressure cooker, add a little water to the cooker and then cover with a lid. Remove the whistle so steam can escape during the cooking process.
2.
In the meantime, add the chopped onion to a hot pan with some oil. Cook on medium-high heat until the onions are soft, about 5 minutes.
3.
Add the tomatoes, Smoked Tandoori Spice Mix, and a little salt. Cook for another 5-10 minutes until the masala is thick and the tomatoes are cooked through. Add 2 tbsp of water and mix well.
4.
Remove the idlis from the steamer and chop them into bite sized pieces. In case you are making mini idlis, feel free to skip this step.
5.
Add them to the pan with the masala and mix until each piece is well coated.
6.
Serve the idlis with Wingreens Mint Mayo.
